Oliver Ressler

Everything’s coming together, while everything’s falling apart

2016 - 2017, Videoinstallation

The title of Oliver Resslers 3-channel video installation refers to a situation in which all the technology needed to end the age of fossil fuel already exists. The project follows the climate movement in its struggles to dismantle an economic system heavily dependent on fossil fuels and records key events for the climate movement. The first two events are the action during the COP21 summit in Paris in December 2015 and a blockade of a fossil fuel, specifically lignite coal, extraction site near Berlin in May 2016. The third film produced for the 3. Berliner Herbstsalon documents the ZAD - Zone à defendre – where 400 people live together in 60 different collectives, occupying the land against a new airport project for the city of Nantes.
