El Dorado (1848), a historic wallpaper from the Deutsches Tapetenmuseum in Kassel showing a panorama composed of imagined landscapes of the world’s continents, acts as setting for this video. Teenage refugees perform in front of this backdrop and in other museum halls. One of them begins to talk about his personal story and his aspirations for the future. Dakić’s work engages with the differences and similarities between the imagined and real, between past and present, and between limitations and hope.
Danica Dakić, artist, born in 1962 in Sarajevo. Lives and works in Düsseldorf, Weimar and Sarajevo.
