Phil Collins

Collins combines two of his films in this installation. marxism today (prologue) focuses on the experiences of three former teachers of Marxism-Leninism since the fall of the Wall. Their interviews are spliced together with archive material from the GDR era. In use! value! exchange! one of the teachers gives a lecture on Marxist economic analysis to present-day students. Collins’s piece reveals the gaps between two generations whose lives have been shaped on the one hand by the Cold War, and by the uncontested rule of capitalism on the other hand.
