When refugee boats land on European beaches, people almost always leave personal items in them. For the owners, these items had (or have) great significance: they were intended to secure their survival, accompany them on their life-threatening journey and to protect them from mishap. Thomas Kilpper and Massimo Ricciardo show a collection of these highly diverse objects - silent witnesses of a perilous crossing.

International exhibitions of his work among others in the Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2012), the Berliner Herbstsalon, Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin (2013), Kunsthaus Hamburg (2014) and Palazzo Donà Brusa, 56th Biennale di Venezia (2015).
